My guest tonight was the lovely and talented story teller Badria Jazairi, an Arab American ‘princess’, whose spirit may have been dampened by the effects of 911 but not broken. Though born in Houston Texas, our Amercian Arab girl didn't quite feel American any longer, nor did she feel Arab, she felt displaced. It took an Arab stranger in the dining room of a remote New Hampshire home, to help her and her sister overcome and heal from the embarrassment and guilt they felt as Arab Americans in the days following that fateful incident.
Badria found out that she had a royal lineage, and in fact, was a direct descendent of Mohammed. Today our story teller can once again feel pride in her heritage and tell her authentic story. Tune in and hear what it’s like growing up talented, beautiful and Arab in America, today.
