Masturbation for the Nation

As you may know, Africa is a country under siege. Not by GW Bush - this time,but by the Aids virus. (ok-some might argue that the Americans were responsible in the first place for Aids- but that is another story) ..

Nothing new here right? In a Country where Over 70 percent of its inhabitants are infected by this deadly virus, sex workers line the streets to service the lonely truck drivers, and children are left homeless as their parents expire, there is something new to brighten the horizen.

In Botswana, health officials have a new campaign, and its called Masturbation.. It features a man sitting on a couch, with his penis in his hand, masturbating. A bubble over his head has him imagining himself with a woman and the caption reads "Masturbate- Do it Yourself."

A friend of mine (one of my physicians) who was in Africa saw the poster in Botswana and secretly took a picture of it. He was told that he wasn't allowed.

The third time this year alone, he was back over in Africa raising money, awareness and trying to make his way through mountains of red tape and corruption so that supplys of vitamins and foods from Canada could get through to these kids. He was told that they were eating non food soup. It was made from sawdust. SAWDUST. How can we be so immune? So lacking of knowledge and facts over here or are we? Who lets kids starve like this in an orphanage? My physician was over in Africa supporting and raising awareness for the orphanage. He met a woman on whose land this building stood. Apparently she owned like 30 miles of land and had NO IDEA these kids were even on it. Her eyes are now open as they say and hopefully her influence will allow more nutrution to make its way in.

14 years ago I was in the Condom business and heavily involved in Aids education. Africa was a huge concern to me because I was asked constantly for help. They needed condoms. At the time, they were very expensive. Something like five dollars for a box of 12. I was purchasing them from Malaysia for around 4 cents each.
Today, they are put out around town by the health organizations for free, however with such a limited supply, it means that a man can have safe sex about 6 times a year. Pretty Scary.

This same doctor told me a story once of a visit he had done to a clinic and was speaking to an educated and well spoken nurse. The conversation turned to AIDS, as the 'cause of death' for most AIDs victims was cited as Tuberculosis to keep stats down. Anyway, he mentioned that AIDS was a problem in the States and Canada as well.
She wondered how that could be. She thought only Black People could get AIDS. When he finally proved to her that this wasn't the case, she broke down and cried. I imagine she was thinking about the wealthy white S.Africans and how it was they avoided becoming infected when 70 percent of her race was dying.

The world has become so immune to hearing about AIDs, that it makes it very difficult for research money to exchange hands, but there are people in my circle of influence who do believe that a cure is at hand and waiting to be discovered.
In fact, I have heard that for about 10 cents a day, this same Dr. along with another associate have proven that selenium will get those infected with AIDS up off their death beds and back to living normally. They are not cured of the disease but of the effects of the disease. Children don't have to lose their parents.400,000 this year will be left homeless.

$50,000 will fund the proof study.. not a lot of money for this type of research, but it's obvious why no one wants to help... becuase they would rather have DEAD AIDs victims then the WaLKING INFECTED!!!
